Background:

- My client is a global company with an enviable portfolio of pharmaceutical,
biological and OTC products. They are renowned for the quality of their
development and manufacturing processes and they are one of the most respected
brands in the industry

Summary:

- I am currently recruiting for them a Surgical Product Specialist to join their
Ophthalmics team
- This is a unique role which will work closely with a team of Territory Sales
Managers to maximise potential sales growth opportunities within each
territory
- EyeCare is a strategically important Therapeutic Area for my client and Glaucoma
represents the largest franchise within EyeCare, with a range of market leading
therapies

Accountabilities:

- This role will be accountable for driving the commercial objectives for the Gel
Implant business within the defined territory, through close surgeon partnership
and internal cross-functional working
- Partnering with Physicians is essential to the successful adoption of new
technology into clinical practice, this includes surgical training but also
driving the commercial success of this through breadth and depth initiatives
- The role will work closely with the Glaucoma Product Specialists, Regional
Access Managers and Medical Teams to deliver the objectives for the gel implant

Responsibilities:

- The Surgical Product Specialist has primary responsibility for partnering
Ophthalmic Surgeons on the use of the Gel implant for the treatment of glaucoma,
ensuring that they move through the learning curve smoothly and adopt this into
their clinical practice

Required Education and Experience:

- Preferably educated to degree level, ideally with a science base, but not
absolutely essential
- Relevant experience in Theatre Selling/Training environment, or significant
successful Ophthalmology selling experience
- Demonstrable skills in business planning and key account management
- Full, clean driving license
- Pass of the ABPI Examination for Medical Representatives

- Proven selling skills
- Ability to forward plan and prioritise
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Able to lead and work as part of a team to achieve common goals
- Proven track record of relevant local HTA Guidance implementation in a hospital
environment
- Proven track record of local health economy service development business cases

- Clear understanding of the commissioning challenges and upcoming changes within
the local health environment and how these apply to the Ophthalmology business
