SUMMARY

- My client is a leading pharmaceutical development company with a specialist
portfolio of products
- They have exciting growth plans for 2018 and are looking to add a Senior
Analytical Scientist to their team as a result
- The job holder will be expected to effectively manage a team of analytical
scientists

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

- Write analytical study plans & review final analytical reports
- Manage the day to day running of the analytical team in line with the company QMS

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management:

- Line management of a team
- Monitor team study plans and project timelines
- Develop and maximise individual and team performances

Analytical:

- Provide technical expertise on the company analytical techniques, specifically
HPLC & GC, and help promote innovation by recommending new techniques
- Write study plans for analytical work carried out on each project
- Lead the company's method development strategy, ensuring all product development
needs are met in an effective and efficient manner
- Be the Chromatographic expert for troubleshooting of instrumentation, methods
and investigation of aberrant sample results
- Participate in meetings with new and existing clients when technical issues are
being discussed
- Review data, interpret results and make decisions on further actions if required
- Ensure that all analytical work carried out by the team is conducted to the
required standards

Quality:

- Take a key role in continuous improvement projects
- Execute and approve all laboratory investigations including deviations, CAPAs and
participate in process improvement
- Monitor team study plans and project timelines
- Ensure team members adhere to SOPs at all times, prepare, contribute to the
writing and revision of SOPs where applicable
- Report any deviations from documents and SOPs to senior management team
- Ensure all scientific activity is carried out to the "right first time principle"
- Provide regular reports and KPI feedback to the Head of analytical team to inform
decision making

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

- Very strong team management experience
- Substantial analytical laboratory experience
- Method development experience
- Method validation experience
- Stability testing experience
- Knowledge of ICH Q2, Q8, Q9 and Q10 guidelines
- Strong report writing skills
- Mature attitude
