SUMMARY

*My client is one of the largest privately owned forensic science service
providers in the UK, providing a range of measurement products and services
which underpin the safety, health and security of the public, including
reference materials and proficiency testing, genomics reagents and
instrumentation, and expert sample analysis and interpretation
*Their customers are from many different industries including
Pharmaceuticals, Agricultural Biotechnology, Food, Environment, Government
and Academia

OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB

*Ensure that analyses of casework items are carried out in a timely manner
to quality standards

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES

*Ensure analytical data conforms to quality standards by reviewing
analytical data from GC, LC, MS/MS and HRAM
*Supervision of routine maintenance of analytical instrumentation and advice
on remedial action
*Design and carry out method development & validation studies
*Provide supervision, training and mentoring, as appropriate
*Produce daily schedule for the laboratory team
*Provide line management for up to 6 staff

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

*Ability to train analysts in sample preparation techniques e.g. L/L, SPE
*Extensive experience in at least one of the following: GC-MS, GC-QQQ, LC-
MS/MS or High Resolution Accurate Mass using Chemstation, Mass hunter,
Analyst Software or Excalibur/Tox Finder/Chromeleon, including peer review
of analytical data and instrument maintenance

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

*Ideally holds a degree in Chemistry or related scientific discipline
*Substantial previous industrial experience
*Previous line management experience

OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATION

*This role will involve working 1 in 4 weekends, for which an additional
shift allowance will apply
