QA Test Lead-Oxford-Initial 6 Month Contract-£420pd

Our Client, a Global Publishing Company, is seeking a QA Test Lead to be based in Oxford on an initial 6 month contract.

Background
We are seeking a strong QA Lead with solid experience in setting up the QA functions for technical projects with good Agile experience in ensuring high quality stories and team approaches to QA to join our OpsBank2 WebSphere Replacement Project team in the Business Technology Services (BTS) Group in Kidlington, Oxford. This project will refresh OPSBankII underlying technology, currently built on WebSphere with a cloud based solution based on JBOSS, Activiti and Fuse. The primary purpose of the application is to manage the enrichment, storage and distribution of metadata associated with scientific, medical and engineering journals in the form of Citation abstract references and indexes records (CARS).
The project starts on 1st October 2016 and run until the end of 2017.
Key Responsibilities
·Set up QA strategy - covering unit testing, automated regression testing, non-functional testing and UAT
·Set up the QA disciplines within the project, working with the Project Manager, Product Owner and development teams to ensure a high quality approach to development.
·Develop a defect management approach - liaising with the BAU team in charge of the live system
·Lead the Automated Regression activities to ensure the new system meets the overall functional needs of the product owner and matches the behaviour of the current system.
·Set up and lead the testing of the non-functional requirements (performance, stress, resilience, load etc), advise on tools and third party requirements
·Work with the development teams and oversee the approach and discipline for unit testing, test driven development and agile quality practices
·Set up and lead the User Acceptance Testing for all releases
·Work with the Product Owners and Business Analysts to ensure stories are high quality and have clear and testable acceptance criteria
·Train new testers and set up systematic coaching framework
·Communicate clearly about status, problems and ideas with other developers, managers, users and stakeholders,
·Set up key reporting metrics/KPIs to allow overall quality assessment of the product and project, provide regular reporting and updates to the Project Manager
·Maintain quality documentation where appropriate
·Assist with product backlog maintenance as needed
·Assist with internal and external communication to improve transparency
·Assist with prioritization and resolution of defects/bugs
·Assist with the launch plan and overseeing the co-ordinated roll out and delivery
·Work with the Product Owner to help them understand their QA responsibilities
·Participate proactively in developing and maintaining standards, tools and best practices
·Working with all members and roles of the team to ensure compliance with an appropriate and robust definition of 'done'
·Facilitating release planning activities with the team
·Ultimately to ensure the delivered solution is fit for purpose and free from defects.

Key experience
·Experience of setting up a QA function for a multi-million dollar technical project
·Degree or combination of relevant education and experience
·5 years+ experience of automated testing
·Good experience of setting up and running non functional testing - performance, data quality, security etc
·Good Agile story writing experience
·Good understanding of the agile principles, iterative development and the software development lifecycle.
·Tools & techniques for the practical application of automated testing, non-functional testing, and QA
·Ability to understand technical issues at a high level
·Excellent communication skills.
·Ability to work effectively with technical development, staff, business stakeholders and third parties
·Exceptional organizational and time management skills
·Minimum of 5 years experience of software development projects
