PROGRAMME ASSURANCE - WATERFALL - AGILE

A market leading payments company based in Hertfordshire / North West London requires a Programme Assurance Manager on an initial 6 month contract.

The role purpose is to increase the client's ability to deliver Programme and Projects to time, cost and quality, via objective oversight and associated demonstrable actions.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

* Significant exposure to the assurance of high value, high risk projects and programme
* Previous experience in the management of major programmes and projects
* Expert understanding of the principles of project and programme management from business case, start-up, delivery, implementation through benefits realisation
* Experience in both Waterfall and Agile approaches to software development
* Track record of identifying problem areas with projects and facilitating resolution
* Excellent interpersonal skills: strong communication, listening and presentation; insight and analytical power; persuasion, negotiation and gravitas
* Decision-making: able to make sound recommendations for change (even if controversial), to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
* Experience of working in a highly pressured environment and with senior stakeholders to Board level
* Exemplar and promoter of client's Values
* Ability to quickly gain confidence of stakeholders and the project delivery community

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Accountabilites:

* Increase stakeholder confidence that specific strategic programmes and projects are set up to succeed and will deliver to expectations
* Reduce risk and increase delivery certainty across strategic programmes and projects
* Recommend actions to improve the health and strength of programmes and project
* Socialise, present and agree the recommendations with senior stakeholder
* Take full accountability for ensuring the actions are successfully executed

Duties:

* Assure the health and strength of assigned strategic projects through their start-up, initiation and delivery phases
* Create high quality and clear assessment reports with recommended actions; facilitating agreement and execution of these actions with senior stakeholders and presenting to programme board
* Conduct ad-hoc review of any aspect of a project through to a full project health check
* Recommend improvement to systemic and persistent project delivery issues
* Follow-up and timely resolution of all actions identified
* Mentor and coach the project community to adopt best practice processes
* Closely collaborate with the Programme Office giving feedback for process improvement and receiving project performance indicators
