Middleware Engineer| Hertfordshire
Java, J2ee, Unix, Shell Scripting

A Leading Financial organisation based in Hertfordshire requires a Middleware Engineer to join them on a permanent basis. The role will be within Infrastructure Services Middleware Team responsible to provide both Live Operations Support and Project Infrastructure support activities. This role will include liaisons with other technical teams under I.T Infrastructure & Networks such as Unix Services, Database Services, Application Support and Capacity as well as liaison with Service Operations and Service Delivery will be required. Typically this will require the post holder to: Deliver an outstanding level of Middleware Administration support across all live payment systems, ensuring that systems meet or exceed their SLAs Deliver, to demanding timescales, project work including the build or enhancement of Middleware Environments Implement and test Middleware installs and upgrades. Provide strategy guidance and deliver future Middleware solutions. Provide technical design in the delivery of infrastructure and development projects. Perform and coordinate advanced Middleware troubleshooting, analysis and performance monitoring with other technical departments Provide technical support for production systems on a 7 x 24 basis Working Closely & Effectively with other Operational Teams for the resolution of incidents and problems. Participate with ongoing Continuous Service Improvement Programmes to drive process improvements and gain efficiencies through review of appropriate practices, standards and guidelines. Document and manage change to existing systems. Mentor and technically guide less experienced members of the team. The above list of responsibilities provides an indicative overview of the role. Experience
Experience in a demanding, high availability environment IBM MQ (7,8)
IBM Tivoli workload scheduler
Apache HTTP Server Administration
Troubleshooting Middleware / Java Environments
Unix (Preferably Solaris)
Shell Scripting
Experience of the above tool set in a J2EE development environment.
J2EE build and deployment processes

Desirable
Oracle Enterprise Management (OEM) Swift Administration (Swift Alliance and Swift Gateway) Scripting in Python / Jython ANT Understanding of ITIL Practices Experience of working in leading edge development environments would be advantageous. Any of the above mentioned Skills will be considered as an advantage
