Job title: Interim Associate Director - Communications & PR
Job type: 12 month contract (maternity cover)
Location: Buckinghamshire, South East England
Pay rate: £Competitive daily rate

Client Summary:

- My client is a successful and highly-regarded global pharmaceutical company with
key business activities in R&D, Manufacturing and global commercialisation of an
innovative range of products

Key duties & responsibilities:

1. Act as UK / Ireland Public Relations Counsel

- Active member of the UK and Ireland leadership team
- Attend regional leadership meetings to present on Communications and Public
Relations initiatives, issues of relevance and to share successes
- Provide media training for relevant regional leadership team members
- Report significant regional findings to the relevant teams
- Monitor the competitor media landscape including measurement/assessment of
competitor PR programs and media share of voice, and inform the national and
International business teams

2. Develop and Implement PR Campaigns

- Refine the International Communications & PR programs and / or develop compelling
communications platforms that reach, engage & motivate our target audiences
- Develop and deploy national Corporate Communications plan with relevant UK and
Irish leadership team members
- Act as main point of contact for PR agencies regarding press office contacts /
- Set ambitious metrics to measure successes of PR programs as well as measuring PR
agency performance

3. Patient Advocacy Relations

- Initiate and maintain stakeholder relationships with key patient advocacy

4. Budget & Agency Management

- Agree scopes of work & budget estimates, and track the PR budget for all
business units in the UK and Ireland

5. Develop & maintain internal communications strategy

- Ensure consistent communications to UK/IE employees
- Organise and manage regular company update meetings
- Ensure materials, messages and corporate websites maintained
- Develop and manage new and interactive ways of engaging employees
- Specialist support to individual business internal communication initiatives

Education and Experience:

- Proven knowledge and experience of communication within the pharmaceutical /
healthcare industry in the UK and / or Ireland
- This may have been gained via in-house communications or public relations roles
or from extensive PR agency experience
- Science qualification and/or journalism degree (Bachelor level or above)
- Good knowledge of the UK and/or the Irish codes of practice for the
pharmaceutical and medical device industries
- Previous experience working with Patient Advocacy Organisations, or in Public
- Experience using multiple communications challenges beyond traditional PR
including digital channels
- Experience with developing and deploying engaging internal communications to a
diverse employee base

Essential Skills and Abilities:

- Demonstrated excellence in strategic public relations, employee communications
and in strategic communicationsplanning, ideally for high-profile pharmaceutical
brands, for pharmaceutical brands with strong competitors and/or for strategic
launches for a healthcare organisation
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong inter-personal, motivational and influencing skills
- Self-starter able to operate effectively within a matrix organisation
- Excels in a fast paced and dynamic environment; calm under pressure
