Job Description

Infrastructure Solutions Architect - Hertfordshire- 6 month contract
Payments, Sun Solaris, Oracle, Weblogic, Java, Network Architecture RAD/ Agile

An Infrastructure Solution Architect is urgently required to lead infrastructure architecture work-streams for large and small development programmes which deliver new and enhanced services and systems.

The role requires the holder to steer the infrastructure solution through all stages of the development life cycle from bid, concept and pre-sales through architecture, design, build, test and handover to the user.

Typically, the role will require the post holder to:
*Define and document overall infrastructure solution architectures for programmes and bids
*Communicate effectively with stakeholders in other parts of the business and externally.
*Steer multi-disciplinary teams of technical architects, Providing technical supervision and governance of the solution as it passes through the development life-cycle
*Ensure that solutions conform to policies and standards and integrate with other parts of the IT infrastructure
*Ensure that solutions meet defined non-functional requirements for performance, scalability, availability, security and manageability
*Use effective implementation strategies
*Ensure choice of appropriate technology, contributing to technical criteria for product / component selection

The following knowledge, experience and expertise applies to all infrastructure solution architects:
*Proven experience of delivering complex technical designs and architectures
*Ability to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
*A clear understanding of how non-functional requirements such as performance and availability are delivered by a technical solution

In addition, significant delivery experience in at least five of the following is needed:
*IT development to architect or senior designer level in financial services industry, preferably with Payments experience.

*Current platform experience to technical architect level on at least one of the following server technologies: Sun Solaris; Enterprise Linux.

*Database design and database administration with at least one of the following: Oracle or a leading open source DBMS such as MySQL.

*Architecture and design enterprise class application and middleware products including at least one of: Oracle Weblogic Server; IBM MQ, etc; a leading open source application server or web server.

*Current experience of Network architecture, design and implementation

*Experience of working alongside bespoke software developers to deliver specialised solutions.

*Software development including one or more of: Enterprise Java; SQL

*Design for integrating and implementing major software application packages into an enterprise environment.

*Experience of working in multi-project programmes governed by formal methodologies such as Prince II

*Design and implementation of high availability and high scalability OLTP systems (may include transactional web based systems)

*Design and implementation of Data Warehouse and/or Business Intelligence solutions

*Design and implementation of Mobile payments or information services.

*Security Architecture and implementation, including at least one of these technologies: PKI; high security 2 factor web solutions; federated/cooperative security solutions, e.g. using SAML; PCI/EVA

*Architecture for operations, including design for and deployment of Enterprise Management tools (e.g. HPOV, BMC, Tivoli, Interlink)

*Experience of development methodologies such as RAD/Agile

*Performance design, performance tuning and performance testing/benchmarking

*Good understanding of industry best practice across the Corporate, Wintel and VMWare technology stacks.

*Strong technical knowledge of virtualisation technologies (e.g. VMWare and App-V).

*Deep knowledge of Microsoft technologies, in particular, Server 2008-2016, Win7-10, AD, Group Policy, Exchange, Sharepoint, SCCM, Office365.
