Job Description

DevOps Automation Engineer - Hertfordshire- 6 month contract

I am currently recruiting for a Leading financial organisation based in Hertfordshire that requires an experienced DevOps engineer to help deliver the next generation of our market-leading payment products.
You will have significant expertise in setting up and managing automated application deployment lifecycles for software releases for multiple applications across various Portfolios.
You will work collaboratively with all participants in software development projects and be supportive of developers and testers as they set up their build development and test environments.
This position also works with the wider development community to improve the software engineering processes and practices associated with continuously building, deploying, and updating software and environments.

You will have extensive experience in implementing and managing the build pipeline and processes for the progression of code into the development and test environments.
You will work to automate the delivery of our applications by extending the current framework to reduce the time to market of our applications.
You will be responsible for the design and development of the environment configuration system to enable the platform to be deployed into various environments.
You will also be responsible for automating the provision of reporting metrics from development teams up to programme level.
You will demonstrate a flexible approach to the role, be enthusiastic about technology and comfortable taking initiative and innovating with new technologies and techniques.
Candidates should have an excellent command of verbal and written English, and be focused on individual and team objectives as an active participant in the Agile/Scrum development process, completing assignments in time, and with the necessary quality.
You will be able to adapt and align work to changing requirements and priorities, and be committed to delivering value for the organisation. You will have a continuous improvement mind-set.

Experience in setting up Continuous Delivery environments, and associated tools.
·Expert in one or more configuration management tools, such as Ansible and Puppet, and proficiency with the Jenkins/Hudson automation tool.
·Experience of working with Git-based source code management and the Nexus repository.
·Strong skills in the administration, configuration and usage of Atlassian platform toolsets (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) and related tools (Fisheye, Crucible etc.), with a view to delivering an integrated, automated capability.
·Experience of virtualisation environments including Docker.
·Experience of working in an Agile development lifecycle.
·Strong Linux skills.
·Development skills in at least one scripting language (Bash, Python…)
