Job Description

My Client who are a major player in the insurance world are looking for a perm DBA

The candidate should have experience in SQL Server database administration as part of an IT Department or Software Vendor.

Technical Experience
The ideal candidate will be able to provide database management and support. Technical experience should include; backups\restores, security, high availability, T-SQL, triggers, stored procedures, understand replication and experience with performance tuning techniques. The candidate will be required to install SQL Server, implement database maintenance plans, write complex T-SQL statements, make optimisation suggestions and deploy releases to client databases. Any experience in the SQL Server BI Stack would be beneficial as will any relevant Microsoft Certification. The candidate will have the opportunity to start or extend on their Microsoft Certification to assist in continuing to maintain the companies Microsoft Partner status.

Additional Skills
Knowledge of the insurance industry would be beneficial.
Solid Excel knowledge would be beneficial.

Job Requirements Summary

Evaluation Criteria
·Difficulty: Must be able to work unassisted under pressure in a busy environment. Evaluate situations and manage their solutions.
·Interpersonal Relations: Employee has contact with internal staff together with outside agencies and clients to obtain or provide information. The position necessitates some explanation and interpretation of facts when discussing IT solutions. The ability to work on a confidential basis is essential.
·Working Conditions: Primarily on site at Wickford, some travel may be necessary to customer sites and some out of hours cover may be required from time to time.
·Supervision: In accordance with FSA Conduct of Business the overall standards of performance will be assessed during periodic audits.

The candidate would report to the Data Services Manager and work as part of a close-knit team. The role will provide the opportunity for the right candidate to upskill in all areas of SQL and may fluctuate between database administration and development. The role will also consist of 2nd-3rd line client support tasks.
