The biological computation group at Cambridge is building a platform for programming biology by developing the software, hardware, and biological tools required to improve the work flows for engineering biological systems. In our biological wet lab we are performing synthetic biology experiments in order to understand how genetic devices function in bacterial cells. We are looking for an experienced biological laboratory technician to perform biological experiments and support the work of a team of world-leading researchers and engineers.
The successful candidate will have the technical skills to work independently on scientific problems as well as the desire to take on a wide range of responsibilities to ensure the smooth functioning of our small but well-equipped lab. A BSc in Molecular Biology/ Biochemistry/ Biophysics, or related disciplines is desirable but an equivalent amount of laboratory experience would also be appropriate.
·Experience in molecular biology (ideally including familiarity with DNA assembly techniques such as Gibson assembly and/or Golden Gate) is required
·Experience with flow cytometry is highly desirable
·Experience with lab automation is desirable
The duration of the position is one year initially, with the possibility of extending depending on budget availability.
